TRIBUTE TO ROY LYTHGOE
formerly of Gornal Wood, Dudley
On Tuesday 16th May, 2023 we were sadly informed of the death of our long-time friend Roy Lythgoe , formerly of Gornal Wood, Dudley, aged 83 years who was well known as both an exhibitor of various classic vehicles and as part of the "Transtar Events Team" for many many years.
A full Tribute with photographs is on this site - go to Geoff & Linda Guinness Model Bus Collection link at the top of this page and then on the side panel click on "Tribute to Roy Lythgoe".
IMPORTANT NOTICE
CAR PARKING at Oak Park Active Leisure Centre
- 200 NEW ADDITIONAL SPACES ON UPPER CAR PARK - Follow the signs
Please note that as since May 2018 a new policy has been introduced on the car park at the Leisure Centre. Will all visitors please make sure that they are parked appropriately in the parking bays between the lines as we understand checks are being made by wardens and anyone found to not be parking correctly or parking on double yellow lines are likely to receive a ticket. Please note that parking is actually free but you must park correctly.
We do not want to see our customers receive parking tickets so please be alert.
New additional car parking now completed- To access the additional parking for Oak Park Active Living Centre when you drive through the gate and onto the original car park head for the far side where you will see a link road that goes up past the astro turf and then at the top it opens out to approx 200 parking spaces. You can only access this by coming in to the leisure centre entrance although you can see it from the old car park adjacent to the KFC from the Lichfield Road as well. Once parked on this additional area you can quickly walk down on the pathway on the lefthand side and it will bring you directly to the main entrance of the centre.
Further parking on the old car park next to KFC off the Lichfield Road is also still available for anyone coming from that direction and again is just a short walk down to the centre. Alternatively you can use on street parking where applicable in the area.
Thanks for your continued support.

NEWS UPDATE - December 2018
BILL WHITTAKER well known Coach Operator from West Bromwich along with his Miniature General Buses and keen collector of models
On Friday 23rd November 2018 we were sadly informed of the sudden death of our long-time friend Bill Whittaker, aged 78 years, who was well known in the area for his Coaches and Miniature General Buses. Bill supported all our events and particularly Sandwell his ‘local’ show. Bill also became part of the scene at Sandwell Park Farm, West Bromwich, for many years throughout the summer months giving rides to children on his little General Buses. Bill was also a keen collector of model buses and attended many of our toy collectors fairs. Collectors will remember the Corgi Bedford OB “Whittakers” which was issued some years ago and we ourselves produced a Limited Edition - Whittakers LLedo LP15 and LP17 Single deck and Double Deck Buses which were released at the Sandwell Historic Vehicle Shows.
A full tribute with photographs is on this site – go to Geoff & Linda Guinness Model Bus Collection link at the top of this page and then on the side panel click on “Tribute to Bill Whittaker”.
18th March 2018 - Thank you to all the Traders and Public who turned up today Sunday 18th March 2018 to the Toy & Train Collectors Fair at a very snowy Walsall Wood. Traders who were unable to attend due to the attrocious weather in their area please confirm your bookings as soon as possible for the next event by either emailing us at: transtar@talk21.com or telephoning on 01922 643385.
We managed to continue with the event during difficult conditions outside.
Your support was greatly appreciated and we look forward to seeing you all again on the 13th May 2018 when we hope for better weather. See below newspaper report and pictures which appeared in the Walsall Advertiser on the 22nd March 2018. It is sad to report that on the 29th March the Walsall Advertiser ceased publication.

WELCOME
DUDLEY CLASSIC CAR & TRANSPORT SHOW, HIMLEY HALL, DUDLEY
SUNDAY 6TH SEPTEMBER 2015
Many thanks to all our traders/exhibitors and the public for the tremendous support we had at our event at Dudley Classic Car event on the 6th September 2015. The weather was perfect resulting in a good day out for all.
A huge thank you for all the goodwill messages from the hundreds of individuals and clubs at our Dudley event. Apologies to those of you we could not get to but a perfect end to 44 years of classic car shows for us. We are unable to respond personally to all the hundreds of messages we have received but some of the comments will be on a special website page - The End of an Era (link on the side panel)
A particular thank you to all our staff past and present over the years including Amanda in the rally control, Nicola for her help with administration and work on the show days, the marshalls, family members who have supported us throughout the years along with the caterers, security, first aid as well as the host venues for their assistance and co-operation for the smooth running of the events and all the public supporters over the years.
Finally thanks to our two wonderful boys Nick and Richard who have seen the events grow from start to finish and had to put up with all the ups and downs of working with outdoor events all their life - getting up at 6am in the morning with long days whatever the weather. We leave the Classic Car event scene with some amazing memories and lots of friends and acquaintances gained over the past 44years.
All the best to everyone for the future.
