CANCELLED DUE TO COVID-19
WALSALL WOOD TOY & TRAIN COLLECTORS FAIR - SUNDAY 17th MAY 2020
Following talks with the Management at Oak Park Active Living Centre early on Friday 20th March regarding the current crisis we are facing regarding COVID-19 we were informed that all the leisure centres in the Walsall area were closed from Thursday 19th March for a month. However our event was scheduled for the 17th May and following the consensus that many of the toy fairs throughout the country were being cancelled until the end of June we agreed with the Management to cancel our event on the 17th May 2020. Our next one being as planned for the 13th September 2020.
However our decisions made earlier in the day were subsequently confirmed later on Friday evening when the Prime Minister closed down many further establishments including all leisure centres for the foreseeable future. We are hoping that by August/September such restrictions may be lifted or certain ones relaxed in order for our events to continue.
We know that all of you will understand the current crisis our country is facing and we will always put the interests of our traders/customers first. Many of you are in the older vulnerable age group. Plus we have been involved in the organising of events for over 45 years including for the last 29 years at Oak Park. We will once again continue with our events at Oak Park as soon as the conditions for us all to enjoy our fascinating hobby is met.
We will continue to update our website as and when we have new information available.
Please everyone keep safe and hopefully our toy fairs will be back in September as planned.

PRICE INCREASE ON ADMISSION FOR 2020
Unfortunately with ever increasing costs of putting events on after three years in the new centre we have had to put a slight increase on the Admission Prices for 2020. Therefore as from the 5th January 2020 toy fair Adults will be £2.00 - Seniors/OAPS will be £1.70 and Children will remain at £1.00.
Stall rents will remain at the same level as in 2019.
We will still be the best value for money against other similar Toy Fair events. We look forward to your continued support throughout 2020 and beyond.

CAR PARKING at Oak Park Active Leisure Centre
- 200 NEW ADDITIONAL SPACES completed on the site September 2019
Please note that as since May 2018 a new policy has been introduced on the car park at the Leisure Centre. Will all visitors please make sure that they are parked appropriately in the parking bays between the lines as we understand checks are being made by wardens and anyone found to not be parking correctly are likely to receive a ticket. Please note that parking is actually free but you must park correctly.
We do not want to see our customers receive parking tickets so please be alert.
New additional car parking now completed and open - To access the additional parking for Oak Park Active Living Centre when you drive through the gate and onto the original car parking head for the far side where you will see a link road that goes up past the astro turf and then at the top it opens out to approx 200 parking spaces. You can only access this by coming in to the leisure centre entrance although you can see it from the old car park adjacent to the KFC from the Lichfield Road as well. Hopefully all the problems we have been having with lack of space will now be resolved. Once parked on this additional area you can quickly walk down on the pathway on the lefthand side and it will bring you directly to the main entrance of the centre.
Further parking on the old car park next to KFC off the Lichfield Road is also still available for anyone coming from that direction and again is just a short walk down to the centre. Alternatively you can use on street parking where applicable in the area.
We thank all our customers/visitors for their patience and co-operation over the last few months whilst the new additional car parking was being made.
Thanks for your continued support.

NEWS UPDATE - December 2018
BILL WHITTAKER well known Coach Operator from West Bromwich along with his Miniature General Buses and keen collector of models
On Friday 23rd November 2018 we were sadly informed of the sudden death of our long-time friend Bill Whittaker, aged 78 years, who was well known in the area for his Coaches and Miniature General Buses. Bill supported all our events and particularly Sandwell his ‘local’ show. Bill also became part of the scene at Sandwell Park Farm, West Bromwich, for many years throughout the summer months giving rides to children on his little General Buses. Bill was also a keen collector of model buses and attended many of our toy collectors fairs. Collectors will remember the Corgi Bedford OB “Whittakers” which was issued some years ago and we ourselves produced a Limited Edition - Whittakers LLedo LP15 and LP17 Single deck and Double Deck Buses which were released at the Sandwell Historic Vehicle Shows.
A full tribute with photographs is on this site – go to Geoff & Linda Guinness Model Bus Collection link at the top of this page and then on the side panel click on “Tribute to Bill Whittaker”.
18th March 2018 - Thank you to all the Traders and Public who turned up today Sunday 18th March 2018 to the Toy & Train Collectors Fair at a very snowy Walsall Wood. Traders who were unable to attend due to the attrocious weather in their area please confirm your bookings as soon as possible for the next event by either emailing us at: firstname.lastname@example.org or telephoning on 01922 643385.
We managed to continue with the event during difficult conditions outside.
Your support was greatly appreciated and we look forward to seeing you all again on the 13th May 2018 when we hope for better weather. See below newspaper report and pictures which appeared in the Walsall Advertiser on the 22nd March 2018. It is sad to report that on the 29th March the Walsall Advertiser ceased publication.

See Ann Evans two page report and pictures below from our event in the May 2017 issue of Collectors Gazette.
Since moving to the new larger hall in September 2016 we have held our original 2016 charges for the first two events in the new hall which have not sen an increase of either table rents or admission charges since January 2012. An achievement which we do not think any other organiser within the UK could say they have done. However we do need to increase both our table rents and Admission charges to the event from 1st January 2017.
Therefore please note we have tried to keep the increases to an absolute minimum and they still represent excellent value compared to similar size fairs elsewhere in the country.
From 1st January 2017 the following charges will apply.
Table rents will be £21.00 per single table - 2 tables will be £39.00
For more than 2 tables please request information.
Admission Charges from 1st January 2017
Adults £1.80 - Senior Citizens £1.50 - Child £1.00
For future reference the new postal address is Oak Park Active Living Centre, Coppice Road, Walsall Wood, Walsall, WS9 9BH - Telephone: 01922 652266. Additional parking for visitors can still be used on the old car park off the Lichfield Road as well as the venues new car park. You will see the building from the old car park easily and it is only approximately 2 minutes walk.
This new venue is the beginning of a new era for our Toy & Train Fair which has been going for 26 years. A brand new larger and brighter sports hall which will enable us in the future to take a few more traders and offer more space giving comfort for both visitors and traders.
See the Toy Fair page for pictures of the new sports hall.

DUDLEY CLASSIC CAR & TRANSPORT SHOW, HIMLEY HALL, DUDLEY
SUNDAY 6TH SEPTEMBER 2015
Many thanks to all our traders/exhibitors and the public for the tremendous support we had at our event at Dudley Classic Car event on the 6th September 2015. The weather was perfect resulting in a good day out for all.
A huge thank you for all the goodwill messages from the hundreds of individuals and clubs at our Dudley event. Apologies to those of you we could not get to but a perfect end to 44 years of classic car shows for us. We are unable to respond personally to all the hundreds of messages we have received but some of the comments will be on a special website page - The End of an Era (link on the side panel)
A particular thank you to all our staff past and present over the years including Amanda in the rally control, Nicola for her help with administration and work on the show days, the marshalls, family members who have supported us throughout the years along with the caterers, security, first aid as well as the host venues for their assistance and co-operation for the smooth running of the events and all the public supporters over the years.
Finally thanks to our two wonderful boys Nick and Richard who have seen the events grow from start to finish and had to put up with all the ups and downs of working with outdoor events all their life - getting up at 6am in the morning with long days whatever the weather. We leave the Classic Car event scene with some amazing memories and lots of friends and acquaintances gained over the past 44years.
All the best to everyone for the future.
